Heraclitus (also spelt as- Heracleitus) was an ancient Greek philosopher. He was born in c. 540 BCE in Anatolia (now Turkey). He was popularly known as 'The Obscure'.
He was a Pre- Socratic and a great philosopher. He gave a theory which he derived in oracular language. He expounded that everything's core is fire and that fire itself is the basic material of the whole world.
His work on cosmology made him so remarkable, and even today, people appreciate his foundations. It is known that only remnants remain of his work, i.e. On Nature. It is also claimed that the book he penned down about his life is now just a mystery. That is why Heraclitus is a known enigma.
He announced a word, logos (in Greek means: reason) that stands for everything being one. He stated that opposites are connected and unified in nature, which manifests the basic significance of logos, hence balancing the system of the universe.
