Why honesty is the best policy?

Honesty is the best policy because it makes a person strong, sorted, calm, optimistic, trustworthy, and sophisticated. Not only an honest person can gain the trust of others, but also people seek the best and honest advice from them. Being honest helps you to tackle the difficult situation and makes you strong inside out. Few reasons why you should always be honest:

It tells about your ethics and morals.

1. We all know that one’s character is based on several internal values, and honesty is one of them. 
2. One act of dishonesty leads to doubts and bad intentions of other people. People then find it difficult to trust each other.
3. Be honest, and others will always trust you wholeheartedly. 
4. Honesty makes you valuable to others and yourself. Moreover, you will be able to identify a person who is good to get connected with and who is not.

Life becomes easy

1. You do not have to build a web of lies and keep on growing it if you are an honest person. Life becomes way much easier if you are not dishonest.
2. Sometimes it is hard to face the truth, but then it is important to gather all the courage and face it.
3. Think before you lie and keep yourself in another person’s position that is it worth it?
4. Being honest does not mean you have to be rude. Prepare yourself before speaking and try to be diplomatic.
5. In the beginning, you may feel it hard to face reality, but once you make a mistake, your life will be full of complexes. Maintain the consistency of being honest, and you will be happy eventually.

1. Everyone wants respect and should respect too. But it is hard for a dishonest person to gain it. So, do not become one!
2. Be a kind soul so that people can trust you without any fear.
3. When you choose to be an honest person, it means that you respect everyone. Honesty strengthens the relationship too.
4. When honesty is one of the core values of a person, it makes them more authentic and approachable.

Your opinion and advice will have more value.

1. A life full of simplicity is devoid of all the non-essentials and is uncomplicated. Simplicity cannot be achieved without honesty.
2. It depends on us that whether we want to live a life full of truth or want to create one with an alternate reality, but sometimes we are forced to live in both.
3. Simplicity depicts your ethics and morals, and people trust the advice you give. People love the one who you truly are and not what you create yourself artificially.

You do not hurt people

1. A kind and honest person can never think of hurting anyone. Such a sweet soul is always ready to help, spread kindness, love, and respect for others.
2. You end up doing always good, cheering others, and never thinking bad about anyone.
3. Instead of believing in lies, you tell people the truth they deserve.
4. Being honest takes effort and is not easy. Being someone else is easier than being honest. 
5. But once you maintain the consistency, your life will be fruitful and eventually much easier and beneficial.

Honesty shows bravery

1. If you are honest, you are courageous enough to speak the truth, no matter how hard it is. This shows your bravery.
2. Choosing to be honest over something that is not real is bravery. That is the power that can never be underestimated.
3. Dishonest people may gain short-term benefits, but if you are honest, these benefits will be lifelong.
4. Honesty provides the strength to face the challenges, and one learns not to give up easily. An honest person does not grow on the path of ingratitude. 

Authenticity 

1. It is easy to become someone you are not. Honesty teaches you to be your true self towards others.
2. True self will reflect your character. It is an admirable trait.
3. You need to be completely honest with others and with yourself too.
4. It is important to deny, admit, and acknowledge the pains of life. Honesty attracts honest and trustworthy people.
5. They are always high on confidence, self-esteem, are healthy and wealthy.
6. Once you build a web of dishonesty, it requires a lot of effort to maintain it and there comes a time when you are trapped in it.

Mental wellness

1. No lies, no stress, no mental anxiety. As simple as that. Lies, later, give rise to guilts that may be lifelong.
2. If the situation gets worse, then we may become distressed. There is no way other than being completely honest. Even telling the half-truth will not work.
3. Researchers have proved that to improve the physical and mental illness, we should slowly reduce the habit of telling lies.
4. Stick with honesty and your mental health will always remain in a better state.
5. Complete honesty tends to keep peace in society. This small word can save us from big issues.

So, these are the reasons which prove that honesty indeed is the best policy. It implies being truthful and then, one develops a habit of speaking the truth in life. An honest person possesses a strong moral character, shows up with good behaviour, follows the right path, maintains discipline, and is punctual. But in the present era, people easily fall after lies; they deceive just for the sake of fun which has made it hard for everyone to trust each other.

Since childhood, we are aware of this phrase, but it is the responsibility of the elders that they should teach the children how to implement honesty in their lives from the beginning. In short, honesty has several benefits like kindness, truthfulness, moral integrity, and punctuality. Cheating, lying, hurting play no part in honesty and will only leave the person alone and guilty. Honesty also shows the level of maturity of a person. A mature person speaks the truth in a non-hurtful way.
