Introduction of World War Orphans Day
How and why does anyone become an Orphan?
An orphan is the one without a family. The reason for not having a family could be the loss of family in destructive events such as wars, bomb blasts, aeroplane crashes, pandemics or poverty.
These destructive events are uncertain and uncontrollable. Because of the child victims of World war, SOS enfants En Detresse (SOSEED) proposed an initiative to dedicate a day for the victims. The day is "World War Orphans Day". It is observed every year on 6 January.
The day is to promote compassion and support to the ones without families. Orphans lack love and support and an obligation to face a lot of economic, social and emotional undulations.

Significance of World War Orphans Day
World War Orphans Day is a day for the promotion of the rights of Orphans and their struggles. Every child deserves to be secured and cherished. However, few are unfortunate. There would be days when we need protection and love. Feelings are to be addressed by a loving family. Extreme emotions such as fear, anxiety, grief, happiness have to be shared with beloved ones to lighten the heart and feel better. After all, we all are humans, need compassion at times. Orphans are devoid of family, which makes them emotionally wounded.
One may become an orphan at a very young age, few in teenage and rest in adulthood and old age. Being an Orphan is not a choice. It is a situation driven outcome.
Orphanage: Orphanage is a rescue shelter for orphans. Few are private; the rest of the organizations are run by the government. Orphanages are a boon to the homeless. These organizations address the basic needs of the helpless; food, clothes, shelter, education. Poor parents abandon their offspring at the shelters because of their financial conditions, either for a better future or to promote adoption. The other door through which an individual enters an Orphanage is by volunteers. Volunteers collect people in bad shape and drop them at an Orphanage mostly to eradicate helplessness. People put in Orphanages have their basic needs addressed. They are provided with education which acts as a guiding light for setting up their career. Loneliness gets reduced because of fellow companions. However, all care centres do not comply with the set standard objectives. Few orphanages misuse authority for their benefit.
Teens in Orphanages are sexually abused and are treated as a means to satisfy greed. Few of the teens may even be trafficked. Common heinous crime occurs in unethical orphanages; organ transplantation institutions have connections with orphanages to fulfil organ requirements. The organ owner is unwillingly operated on, and organs are transferred to other people.
The other side of being an orphan is losing friends. Every Orphan may not be adopted, which leaves the adopted as well as left kid friendless. As a result, they lose their source of affection, ultimately get depressed and develop trust issues.
Struggles of an Orphan
Every individual on earth faces challenges and become stronger. Likewise, Orphans face a relatively high degree of issues.
Poverty: A child with a family gets his basic and desired needs fulfilled. Whereas an Orphan has to struggle for basic needs; food, shelter, clothing, medication. Unloved orphans may end up as derelict or pass away too soon.
Discrimination: General public perceive Orphans as unemotional, dependent, untouchable and thieves. They are viewed through a narrow hole because of a myth; people who don't have family, do not possess affection, trust and moral values.
Orphans are considered dependent because of their place of stay; Orphanage. Orphans are also considered untouchable according to certain belief systems. Belief systems state that the bad aura or bad luck of alone children is contagious. People often mistake poverty for theft. It is a social stigma that states that poor children steal items.
Physical Violence: Kids without a family are at a higher risk of physical attacks. A child accessible to bullies and psychopaths is under constant threat. Psychopaths violently invade personal space by causing physical injuries.
Sexual Abuse: Few unfortunate children are taken advantage of their helplessness and are sexually abused. Because of the abuse, children are at risk of developing STD's and various other diseases along with mental agony.
Organs Transplantations: Organ transplantation is one of the crimes prevalent in unethical charity organizations. It is dangerous as it involves the removal of functioning organs and sale for monetary gains. Few of the orphans are killed to erase the evidence of the crime. Rest are abused until death.
Child Labour: Orphans often get into work at Houses, coffee shops or construction sites to earn bread, thus unintentionally promoting child labour.
The unkind employers unjustly burden the child that drains energy, along with trigger of psychological abuse. In some cases, the child is taken advantage of and physically harassed.
