Film has always been a really good tool for me to communicate emotion about why I create a collection. I'm probably one of the first designers to make short films.

Basically, I love films where everything is great and life is good.

My good films were independent and my bad films were not.

And we had the perhaps unfair advantage of not having to worry about what an audience was gonna think. We were in a vacuum. We were making little short films, really.

I think people direct good films when they feel personal to them, not because it's a famous book or something. It has to something move over that and somehow become personal to the director.

All of my short films are about marriages, and I think that this probably comes from some kind of unconscious fascination with my parents' story and what they went through.

There was also the myth of the western films. But my films are borrowed not from the story of the West in America but from the story of cinema.

I think indie films are really important, because they show the studios and the audiences when they see them, great stories. Really interesting, small stories.

I've only made short films and two features, which are very different. One is a surreal comedy, and the other is a period tragedy. I'm curious to know what misconceptions this could trigger

I do like fantasy films.

Books are great for if you want to work on the craft of writing for yourself, or, you know, to write novels or indie films, stuff like that.

I think movie makers in every country are looking for ideas. It's interactive. And sometimes we remake a lot of Hollywood films but we don't buy the rights, we just try to imitate those films.

The studios mostly threw away the negatives of the classic films. They had no interest in their legacy.

If you want to be a good actor or director, firstly see life, secondly see films and thirdly read books!
