Funny is funny. And if it's good, it travels.

The difference between doing something and not doing something is doing something.

You'll always make mistakes and you'll miss the mark sometimes. That's inevitably going to happen, because the best people in the world make mistakes - even people who are brilliant.

Who puts strawberries in a salad? Seriously, is this a thing now? Is it a thing I don't know about? Is it an American thing? It can be. It's freaking me out.

As to blood—ah, blood, the whole subject fascinates me. I do like that as well, warm and dripping, when I am thirsty. And I am often thirsty.

And I think I'm an adrenaline junkie, and there's nothing that will spike your adrenaline more than sitting in a theater and listen to an audience react to something you've written.

I went to a lot of theatre schools, got a lot of training, did a lot of repertory where you do a different play every night. I took a lot of voice, movement, and acting classes.

When I left EastEnders, I could have earned an absolute fortune from sexy calendars, shoots for lads' mags, fitness videos and reality shows. But I always turned them down.

Young singers are much better educated musically, much better informed, through discs and videos, than I was.

I think you gotta have some humor [in your story]. People gotta have a moment to laugh and feel that it's not taken 100% serious. That's important.

In poetry, I didn't have to provide resolution. I could ask hard questions without feeling responsible for the answers.
