I hardly ever think about audience. I just try to tell a story for me. I write the kind of story I would like to read.

The only problem with seeing people you know is that they know you.

So what does that make you think about God? I think that maybe, if human beings have souls, that maybe their souls are in their eyes. That maybe that's what the color is. Their souls.

I didn't have my own journals, but my mother kept a journal while I was in the hospital, and my father wrote newsletters to keep friends and family updated on my progress.

Now I'm trying to work outside first person. I do plan to write more books.

I write in a rush of memory.

The importance of solitude is to help you to differentiate your own thoughts from those you have studied, read, heard, or unintentionally absorbed.

If I'm playing well I'll get through a bat in three weeks. I batter them.

I get in the dumps at times, and don't open my mouth for days on end. You must not think I am sulky when I do that. Just let me alone, and I'll soon be right.

Whatever sport you're looking at, it's usually the team that makes the least mistakes that has the most success.

It is a game before a product, a sport before a market, a show before a business.

I believe in process. I believe that having a really difficult process is more valuable than a good outcome.
