Truth is, I cut my hair for freedom, not for beauty.

I used to be so afraid to say what I really think.

I rarely do things based on what everybody else is doing; I never have.

When you're an artist you're speaking about life, you're talking about your experience here on the planet. So essentially, that's what I do when I'm writing songs.

When I was in school I used to prank my teachers all the time. But I was really, really nice. I love to make people laugh. And even in those pranks, the teachers would laugh most of the time.

The future begins with hope.

They have been promising us for a long time — in every culture — that they are going to take us to heaven. They promise heaven because they are making a hell out of this place.

The heights by great men reached and kept Were not attained by sudden flight But they while their companions slept Were toiling upward in the night.

This search for happiness can knock us out of sync with God. As the life of Jesus makes clear, keeping in sync with God is about obedience. Any other pursuit will get in the way.

Why would anybody want a friend?

God made me blind and unable to walk. BIG DEAL! He gave me the ability... the musical gifts I have... the great opportunity to meet new people.

We are each given a block of marble when we begin a lifetime, and the tools to shape it into sculpture... We can drag it behind us untouched, we can pound it into gravel, we can shape it into glory.

My goal before I die is to get all of my thoughts out.
