It's a real gift to have a husband and wife in the company that love each other and that work together. They check on each other emotionally and physically. That's beautiful to me.

I believe in spirit and then I believe a manifestation of spirit is dance

Dance is bigger than the physical body. When you extend your arm, it doesn't stop at the end of your fingers, because you're dancing bigger than that; you're dancing spirit.

Dance is about never-ending aspiration.

People come to see beauty, and I dance to give it to them.

We can go on talking about racism and who treated whom badly, but what are you going to do about it? Are you going to wallow in that or are you going to create your own agenda?

If you look at a dancer in silence, his or her body will be the music. If you turn the music on, that body will become an extension of what you're hearing.

One you've danced, you always dance.

You don't enter a dance studio and say "I can't do that." If you do, then why are you in the studio in the first place?

I've always felt that complement of opposites: body and soul, solitude and companionship, and in the dance studio, contraction and release, rise and fall.

Feeling low is normal, or sometimes, healthy. A lot of great things this world has witnessed were kickstarted by men when they felt low.

The people around you are mirrors, I think. You see yourself reflected in their eyes. If the mirror is true, and smooth, you see your true self. That’s how you learn who you are.

Giving feels fantastic and for there to be a Giver, there must be a Receiver, so allowing yourself to receive is an act of love.

I study the bible regularly, meet with older wiser mentors weekly, and keep a group of guys in my life who challenge me spiritually. That keeps me moving.

When I was 6 my father went to fight in the war, so he was my big hero. I thought he was the greatest thing.

All of us benefit from remembering our past. A people which remembers does not repeat past errors; instead, it looks with confidence to the challenges of the present and the future.

I think we also have learned the lesson that we have to have better incentive structures.

A child from the age of 2 or 3 absorbs what is in the environment and what generates hatred for anyone perceived to be different.
