Authenticity is the daily practice of letting go of who we think we're supposed to be and embracing who we are.

Don't try to win over the haters; you are not a jackass whisperer.

Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren't always comfortable, but they're never weakness.

Daring greatly means the courage to be vulnerable. It means to show up and be seen. To ask for what you need. To talk about how you're feeling. To have the hard conversations.

What makes you vulnerable makes you beautiful.

Believing that you're enough is what gives you the courage to be authentic.

Shame hates it when we reach out and tell our story. It hates having words wrapped around it - it can't survive being shared. Shame loves secrecy... When we bury our story, the shame metastasizes.

When we deny our stories, They define us. When we own our stories, we get to write the ending.

Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it.

Scrub your brain of any thoughts that don’t serve you, and to fill your mind with fresh, clean thinking that instills confidence, commitment, and ultimate success.

Press them continually with memory and dream and have them waste their Present there.

Be real. Be authentic. Be yourself, whatever the emotional cost. Pain goes away, while regret over a life lived trying to be a plastic version of yourself does not.

Sooner or later we must leave our dream world and face up to the facts of God, sin, and judgment. The Bible says, “All have sinned and come short of the glory of God” [Romans 3:23 NIV].

I mean, I did plays in high school, but I was convinced you couldn't make a living doing it.

It was universal pressure on the regime to secure my release. International pressure was certainly helpful in my release.

There's another thing that you don't want to take for granted, and that's the reality of there being an audience there each night. It's pretty amazing that that can happen around the world.

So basically your plan is to flail about helplessly.
