Our jobs as artists is to make sure our art tells a real story and let people see themselves in these characters. It's about having a conversation about being better people.

The biggest thing is we need to stop acting like racism don't exist.

People thought once Obama got into office that racism was over with. But, what we ended up learning was that it just came more into the light.

We need to be more sensitive to each other.

The tragedy of life is not death, but fearing to live, allowing parts of us to wilt and die instead of flower and rejoice.

Act one: put your characters in a tree. Act two: throw rocks at them. Act three: get them down again.

I admire how she protects her energy and understands her limitations.

The parallels between 9/11 and Pearl Harbor are striking. In each instance there were warning signs before the attack, and in each instance our government failed to connect the dots.
